Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Eric Seifert scored 19 points and Pat Moseh added 17 to lead Wheeling Jesuit to a 78-66 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday.
Sophomore guard
Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) paced the Rams with 11 points. Senior forward
Morgan McDonald (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) and freshman guard
Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) each added 10 points, while McDonald also grabbed nine rebounds.
Freshman forward
AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) and freshman guard
Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) added eight points apiece. Carr also hauled down eight rebounds.
Kyle Ritz and Chase Lawson each added 14 points for the Cardinals. Ritz also tied McDonald for game-high rebounding honors with nine boards.
Wheeling Jesuit had a 38-31 lead at intermission.
The Rams cut the lead to four points at 48-44 after a layup by McDonald with 14:23 remaining, but the Cardinals proceeded on a 17-3 run to gain a 65-47 lead and take control of the game. Moseh had seven points to fuel the run.
Shepherd hit on 21-of-51 field goals (41.2 percent) with a 3-of-17 effort (17.6 percent) effort from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 21-of-22 free throws (95.5 percent).
Wheeling Jesuit connected on 22-of-51 field goals (43.1 percent) with a 10-of-27 effort (37 percent) from beyond the arc. The Cardinals were 24-of-31 from the foul line (77.4 percent).
Shepherd had a 37-28 edge on the boards. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed 17.
Shepherd falls to 13-12, 8-11 in MEC play, while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 15-8, 11-7. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host UVa-Wise for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
