SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University director of athletics B.J. Pumroy announced today a newly established scholarship from Dr. Suzanne Shipley and her husband, Mr. Randy Wadsworth.
 
The announcement made today during a luncheon honoring Dr. Shipley and Mr. Wadsworth for their commitment to Shepherd athletics was attended by local supporters, Shepherd faculty and staff, as well head coaches and student-athletes from women's programs.

The Mary Jane Shipley Scholarship, named in honor of Dr. Shipley's mother, will be an annually funded scholarship that supports female student-athletes at Shepherd University.

Shepherd University supports six women's sports teams: softball, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis and soccer. The Rams compete in the Mountain East Conference and are enjoying success with current teams. The women's basketball team currently sits in second place and lacrosse was picked as the conference preseason favorite.
