Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Nick Harney scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Fairmont State to a 64-60 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday on Senior Day.

Junior forward Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Presbyterian) led the Rams with 14 points, while senior guard Austin Cunningham (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local/Ohio Valley) had 13 points and four assists.

Senior forward Morgan McDonald (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) and sophomore guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) each had nine points. Freshman guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) tied Fairmont State's Shammgod Wells for game-high assists honors with five assists. Freshman forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) had six points and a team-high seven boards.

Caleb Davis added 13 points for the Falcons, while Jamel Morris tossed in 12.

Fairmont led by as many as 14 points in the second half but the Rams rallied to within two points at 53-51 after a layup by Cunningham with 8:08 remaining. After the Falcons rebuilt their lead, Shepherd trimmed the lead to four points at 62-58 after a three-point play by Muhammad with 2:37 left, but would get no closer.

Shepherd hit on 24-of-51 field goals (47.1 percent) with a 5-of-15 effort (33. percent) effort from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 7-of-10 free throws (61.3 percent).

Fairmont State connected on 19-of-47 field goals (40.4 percent) with a 7-of-15 effort (46.7 percent) from beyond the arc. The Falcons were 19-of-31 from the foul line (70 percent).

Shepherd had a 32-31 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 17.

Shepherd falls to 14-14, 9-13 in MEC play, while Fairmont State improves to 19-9, 16-6. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m. in first round action of the MEC Tournament.
