Box Score 2 WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Shepherd University softball team went 2-0 at the Shaw University Softball Challenge on Monday. The Rams posted a 3-1 win over Queens University of Charlotte and added a 9-1 victory over Clarion.
Freshman shortstop
Courtney Clemons (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored to lead the Rams against Queens. Senior catcher
Shanan Plunkett (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) added a 1-for-2 outing with a run scored.
Sophomore pitcher
Kirsten Barstad (Joppa, Md./Mercy) (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 5 Ks, 0 BB) (2-0) picked up the win for the Rams.
Sophomore third baseman
Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) had a pair of hits and Senior second baseman
Elisa Orlandi (Owings, MD/Northern) scored three runs to pace Shepherd against Clarion.
Sophomore pitcher
Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) (6 Ks, 2 BB) (2-0) allowed just one run in the win over Clarion.
Shepherd improves to 4-1. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Salem, Virginia to take on Edinboro for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
