Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Defeats Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Senior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) had four goals and two assists and junior midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) added four goals to lead Shepherd University to a 16-8 win over Wheeling Jesuit in MEC women's lacrosse action at Wheeling Jesuit on Friday.

Senior attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) recorded three goals, while sophomore midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) added two goals and an assist.

Junior attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn School), sophomore attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore), and freshman midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each recorded a goal, while sophomore midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) contributed an assist.

Elizabeth Hales had three goals and Holly Deckert added a pair for the Cardinals.

Junior goalkeeper Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) recorded four saves for the Rams, while Maire Austin had seven saves for the Cardinals.

Shepherd had a 28-17 advantage in shots and an 18-11 edge in ground balls. The Rams had a 17-9 advantage in draw controls.

Shepherd improves to 7-3, 3-0 in Mountain East Conference play, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to 3-6, 1-1. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 1 p.m. conference matchup.
