Box Score 2 MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Shepherd University was swept by Millersville in softball doubleheader action at Millersville on Wednesday. The Marauders gained a 3-2 win in game one and added a 2-0 victory in the nightcap.
Milllersville took a 2-0 lead in the second inning in game one on a solo homer by Kelsey Campbell and an RBI-double by Jordan Sheffield.
Campbell added an RBI-double in the third to give Millersville a 3-0 advantage.
The Rams rallied with a pair of run in the sixth. Sophomore first baseman
Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) and senior third baseman
Savannah Snyder (Elkton, Md./Padua Academy) both singled and later scored on a single off the bat of junior outfielder
Kass Taylor (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown).
Campbell and Gabbie Berry each had a pair of hits for the Marauders.
Snyder led the Rams with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate.
Sophomore starter
Kirsten Barstad (Joppa, Md./Mercy) (3.0 IP, 7 H 3 ER, 1 K 0 BB) (7-6) took the loss for the Rams. Cassidy Pinchorski (7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 5 Ks, 1 BB) (8-11) earned the win for the Marauders.
Millersville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the nightcap on an RBI-single by Brittany Smith.
The Marauders added an insurance run in the fifth as Heather Lutz was hit-by-pitch and later scored on a ground out by Berry.
Sophomore pitcher
Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) (6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) (7-7) took the loss for the Rams. Brianna Andraos (7.0 IP, 5 H, 5 Ks, 2 BB) (9-8) earned the shutout win for the Marauders.
Shepherd falls to 14-15, while Millersville improves to 17-19. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Glenville State for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
