Box Score SALEM, Va. – Shepherd University dropped a 4-0 decision to #19 West Virginia Wesleyan in first day action of the MEC Softball Tournament in Salem, Virginia on Friday.
The Bobcats got all their scoring via the long ball.
Brooklyn Waddell hit a solo homer in the first inning, Morgan Bruce had a solo blast in the second, while Rebekah Honce belted a two-run homer in in the third.
Waddell went 3-for-4 and Honce added a 2-for-3 effort to pace the Bobcats.
Freshman second baseman
Courtney Clemons (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) went 2-for-3 to pace the Rams.
Sophomore pitcher
Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) (6.0 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) (9-11) took the loss for the Rams. Anna Eggleston (7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB) (11-2) earned the win for the Bobcats.
Shepherd falls to 18-22, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 33-6. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face Wheeling Jesuit at 9:30 a.m.
