Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Advances to MEC Tournament Finals with Win over UVa-Wise

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Senior attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored four goals and added two assists to lead Shepherd University to 17-2 win over in semifinal action of the MEC Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Ram Stadium on Friday.

Junior midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) added three goals. Junior attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) had two goals and two assists, while sophomore attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) tallied a pair of goals. Sophomore midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) recorded a goal and an assist.

Junior midfielder Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding), sophomore attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro), sophomore attacker Colleen Monaghan (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County), sophomore midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), and freshman midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each contributed a goal. Senior attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) and junior defender Kelsey Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) each added an assist.

Taylor Lawton had a pair of goals for UVa-Wise.

Junior Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) (5)  and freshman Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) (1) combined for six saves in goal for the Rams. Mel Reilly seven saves for the Cavaliers.

Shepherd had a 35-9 advantage in shots and a 23-12 edge in ground balls. Wise had an 11-10 advantage in draw controls.

Shepherd improves to 11-5, while UVa-Wise falls to 3-14 .The Rams advance to the MEC Tournament finals against West Virginia Wesleyan, a 9-8 winner over Wheeling Jesuit in the other semifinal, on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ram Stadium.
