Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – Shepherd University went 1-1 in volleyball action at the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament on Friday. Kutztown (2-5) gained a 16-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 win in an early match, but Shepherd (5-5) rebounded for a 25-23, 25-23, 30-28 win over Slippery Rock (7-3) in a later match.
Senior outside hitter
Taylor Allen (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) had 15 kills and 14 digs and senior outside hitter/libero
Samantha Scroggins (Plainfield Ill./Naperville North/Kishwaukee College) had 14 kills, 12 digs, and four blocks to lead the Rams against Kutztown.
Junior outside hitter/right side
Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville) added 11 kills.
Sophomore libero/defensive specialist
Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) had a match-high 20 digs, while freshman setter
Cyera Dixon (Rushville, Ohio/Fairfield Union) contributed 39 assists.
Audrey Stringer had 13 kills and Tori Wakelee added 10 for the Golden Bears.
Allen had 17 kills, 14 digs and a .395 attack percentage in the win over Slippery Rock. Scroggins added 15 kills and 13 digs.
Dixon recorded 39 assists and Anderson posted 23 digs.
Leah Jones had 14 kills and 15 digs to lead Slippery Rock.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face Seton Hill at 1:30 p.m. and Shippensburg at 4 p.m. in final day action of the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament.
