Shepherd Men's Soccer Downed by West Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Jordan Halpern scored a goal and assisted on another to help lead West Virginia Wesleyan to a 5-1 win over Shepherd University in MEC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon.

Shepherd falls to 1-7-0, 0-4-0 in conference play, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 2-5-1, 2-4-0.

Alex Zidani scored on a feed from Tyler Marshall at the 5:42 mark to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

Paul Smith scored on a header off a cross from Jordan Halpern at the 31:14 mark to up the advantage to 2-0.

The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead into the break behind an unassisted goal by Pavle Milicevic at the 33:29 mark.

Shepherd cut the lead to 3-1 when sophomore midfielder/forward Myles Newhouse (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) scored on an assist from freshman forward /midfielder Justin Poole (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) at the 57:52 mark.

The Bobcats later added a pair of goals as Halpern scored on a feed from Kevin Nyambi at the 74:07 mark and Zach Whiting scored on a pass from Phil Chafin at the 83:17 mark.

Sophomore goalkeeper Dmitre Snowdy (Waldorf, Md./North Point) recorded seven saves for the Rams, while Luka Pauk had six saves for the Bobcats.

West Virginia Wesleyan had a 27-14 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Urbana for a 3:30 p.m. game.
