West Virginia Wesleyan Edges Shepherd Women's Soccer in Overtime

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Colette Biondi scored on a pass from Tiana Bennardo at the 102:55 mark to lift 19th-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan to a 2-1 overtime win over Shepherd University in MEC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday.

Shepherd falls to 3-3-2 overall, 2-2-2 in conference action, while West Virginia Wesleyan improves 8-0-0, 7-0-0.

The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead into the break as Biondi scored on a feed from Kristi Dalton at the 30:29 mark.

Shepherd tied the game when senior midfielder Lexi Vondrak (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) found the back of the net on a corner kick at the 65:39 mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) (2) and redshirt-freshman netminder Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) (7) combined for nine saves for the Rams. Hillary DeWitt had one save for the Bobcats.

West Virginia Wesleyan had a 28-7 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Urbana for a 1 p.m. match.
