Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – East Stroudsburg recorded a 3-0 win over Shepherd University in men's soccer action in the season opener for both schools at East Stroudsburg on Thursday. Shepherd falls to 0-1, while East Stroudsburg improves to 1-0.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead on goal by Casey Choffy on an assist from Andrew McGinley at the 7:21 mark.
East Stroudsburg took a 2-0 lead into intermission when Jonathan Stuppe scored on a header with assists from Jeff Wolf and Keelby Espinola at the 18:20 mark.
James McMahon added a second half tally on a feed from Alex Kardos at the 71:56 mark for the Warriors to complete the scoring.
Freshman goalkeeper
Daniel Hussion (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) recorded four saves for the Rams. William Boerema posted a save for the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg had an 18-6 advantage in shots, while Shepherd held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Notre Dame for a 4 p.m. contest for the conference opener.
