Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Sophomore forward Lexy Junker (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) and redshirt-freshman forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md./Perryville/Wingate) each scored a pair of goals to lead Shepherd University to a 4-0 win over Chowan University at Chowan on Sunday afternoon. Shepherd improves to 1-0, while Chowan falls to 1-2.

Leonard opened the scored when she scored at 3:31 on an assist from senior forward Kylie Duffin (Ventor, N.J./Holy Spirit).

Junker scored with an assist from freshman midfielder Abby Hoffman (Gardners, Pa./Bermudian Springs) at the 34:28 mark to give Shepherd a 2-0 lead at the break.

Leonard added an unassisted goal at the 58:58 mark, while Junker scored an unassisted goal at the 82:14 mark.

Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) did not record a save in a shutout effort  for the Rams, while Marissa Ghani (8) and Olivia Borer (2) combined for 10 saves for the Hawks.

Shepherd had a 34-1 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. contest.
