Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Martha Nagbe scored a game-high 20 points to lead Notre Dame to an 84-65 win over Shepherd University in MEC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday afternoon.
Shepherd falls to 4-12, 3-7 in MEC action, while Notre Dame improves to11-6, 7-3.
Sophomore guard
Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) led the Rams with 19 points. She connected on 7-of-16 field goals with a 3-of-5 effort from beyond the arc. Arden was 2-of-3 from the foul line. She added seven rebounds, a game-high four steals, and three assists.
Junior forward
Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) added 13 points, while sophomore guard
Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River/Anne Arundel CC) tossed in 11. Freshman guard
Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) added nine points and seven boards.
Lauren Langenderfer added 14 points for the Falcons, while Jessica Garcia had nine. Hope Thorbahn grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Falcons opened the game on an 8-0 run and took a 42-33 lead at the break as Nagbe and Kelsey Miller (nine points each) combined for 18 first half points.
The Rams connected on 32.4 percent (22-68) from the floor with a 26.3 percent (5-19) effort from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 69.6 percent of its free throws (16-23). Notre Dame hit on 55 percent (33-60) of its field goals with a 42.9 percent (9-21) effort from beyond the arc. The Falcons were successful on 69.2 percent (9-13) of their free throws.
Notre Dame had a 44-33 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 26 turnovers and committed 19.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Fairmont State for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Tiffnay McKinney scored 11 points.
Kristen Nunn had a team-high four assists.
