Box Score FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Sophomore guard
Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a career and game-high 31 points, but Fairmont State handed Shepherd University an 83-74 overtime setback in MEC women's basketball action at Fairmont State on Thursday evening.
Shepherd falls to 4-12, 3-7 in MEC action, while Fairmont State improves to 12-4, 6-4.
Arden connected on 12-of-22 field goals with a 1-of-3 performance from three-point range. She was 6-of-6 from the foul line. Arden added a team-high five assists.

Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) added 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Sophomore guard
Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River/Anne Arundel CC) tossed in 11 points, while freshman guard
Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) posted a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Her 12 rebounds tied a career high.
Amanda Ruffner scored 19 points and Katie Nunan added 17 for the Falcons. Deidre Combs had 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Liz Myers hit a jumper with five seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 70-all and force the extra session.
Emily Puskarich hit a three-pointer to open the overtime scoring with 4:21 remaining to give the Falcons a 73-70 lead. The Falcons outscored the Rams, 13-4, in the period to pull away for the win. Fairmont State was 8-for-8 from the foul line in overtime.
The Rams connected on 47.7 percent (31-65) from the floor with a 25 percent (2-8) performance from three-point range. Shepherd hit on 76.9 percent of its free throws (10-13). Fairmont State hit on 49.2 percent (29-59) of its field goals with a 23.5 percent (4-17) effort from beyond the arc. The Falcons were successful on 77.8 percent (21-27) of their free throws.
Shepherd had a 35-34 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 19 turnovers and committed 20.
The Rams are slated to return to action on Saturday when they host Glenville State for a 2 p.m. contest.
