Shepherd Men's Soccer Falls to Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Aitor Iniguez de Heredia and Charlie Cahill each scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Wheeling Jesuit (6-8-0, 4-5-0 MEC) to a 4-1 win over Shepherd University (1-12-0, 0-9-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon.

Wheeling Jesuit took a 1-0 lead when Owain Hawkins scored on an assist from de Heredia at the 20:43 mark.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 advantage into the break as Micah Tatebe scored on a feed from Jordan Frommeyer at the 37:25 mark.

De Heredia opened up the second half scoring when he found the back of the net on a pass from Cahill at the 53:15 mark.

Shepherd cut the lead to 3-1 when Alejandro Oliart (Germantown, Md./Northwest/Hagerstown CC) scored on a pass from sophomore/midfielder Justin Poole (Jefferson,, Md./Brunswick) at the 62:47 mark.

The Cardinals added an unassisted goal by Cahill at the 86:24 mark.

Junior Jeff Kammerer (Woodstock, Md./Marriotts Ridge) recorded 10 saves in goal for the Rams. Tyler Shotwell had a pair of saves for the Cardinals.

Wheeling Jesuit had a 25-5 advantage in shots and a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
