Shepherd Women's Soccer Blanks Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University recorded a 2-0 win over Wheeling Jesuit in Mountain East Conference women's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day.

Senior midfielder defender Rachel Sefton (Berryville, Va./Clarke County) scored on a penalty kick at the 42:26 mark to give the Rams (7-6-1, 6-6-1 MEC) a 1-0 lead at intermission.

Freshman midfielder Abby Hoffman (Gardners, Pa./Bermudian Springs) took a pass from junior defender/midfielder Danielle Fernandez (Clarksburg, Md./Damascus) scored by the far post at the 79:39 mark to seal the victory.

Senior Kelsey Rhoderick (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Campbell) posted five saves in a shutout effort in goal for the Rams. Hannah Thompson had three saves for the Cardinals (4-9-1, 3-8-1 MEC).

Shepherd had a 12-10 edge in shots, while corner kicks were even at three apiece.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a noon contest.
