West Virginia Wesleyan Tops Shepherd Men's Soccer

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan (8-7-0, 6-5-0 MEC) used a balanced attack en route to a 5-1 win over Shepherd University (1-13-0, 0-10-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Thursday afternoon.

West Virginia Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead when Juwon Akintunde scored on an assist from Luca Falconeri at the 21:38 mark.

Jens Demul scored an unassisted goal (37:13) and Tre Taliaferro on an assist from Falconeri (38:06) to give the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Shepherd scored on a goal from junior midfielder Kevin Bonanno (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) off a free kick at the 61:35 mark.

Ian Miles and Conor Davies added second half tallies for Wesleyan.

Junior Jeff Kammerer (Woodstock, Md./Marriotts Ridge) (7) and junior Matt lacy (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) (3) teamed to record10 saves in goal for the Rams. Alessandro Armenia had a pair of saves for the Bobcats

West Virginia Wesleyan had a 34-11 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Seton Hill for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
