Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Max Simpson scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead Concord (5-7-0, 3-6-0) to a 4-1 win over Shepherd University (1-10-0, 0-7-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead when junior forward
Jeff Kammerer (Woodstock, Md./Marriotts Ridge) scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder
Justin Daniels (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) at the 12:07 mark.
Simpson scored off a feed from Pedro Bassin for Concord at the 34:25 mark to tie the game.
The Mountain Lions took a 2-1 lead into intermission as Sam Ashton scored on a penalty kick at the 37:42 mark.
Concord got a goal from Yacouba Traore on a feed from Simpson at the 62:12 mark and another from Jared Garlow off a Simpson pass at the 68:38 mark to complete the scoring.
Junior
Jacob Clements (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Frederick CC) recorded eight saves in goal for the Rams, while James Sinclair had one save for the Mountain Lions.
Concord had a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Notre Dame College for a 1 p.m. contest.
