Shepherd Men Handle West Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Junior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) scored a game-high 18 points to lead Shepherd University (3-1, 2-0 MEC) to a 78-61 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (1-3, 0-2 MEC) in MEC men's basketball action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday night.

Carr connected 5-of-5 field goals with a 2-of-2 effort from beyond the arc. He was also a perfect 6-of-6 from foul line. Carr also added five rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot, and a game-high three steals.

Junior guard Skyler Roman Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) tossed in 15 points, junior guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) had 13, while senior guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) was also in double figures with 12 points.

Freshman guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) tied for game-high assists honors with five.

Moe Berchi had 13 points and Luke Petrovic added 11 points and five assists for the Bobcats.

The Rams held a 33-23 halftime lead behind 13 first half points from Roman.

Shepherd led by as many as 25 points in the second half.

Shepherd hit on 27-of-46 field goals (58.7 percent) with a 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) effort from three-point range. The Rams had a perfect 17-of-17 performance from the foul line.

West Virginia Wesleyan connected on 24-of-55 field goals (43.6 percent) with a 7-of-26 effort (26.9 percent) from beyond the arc. The Bobcats were 6-of-7 from the foul line (85.7 percent).

Shepherd had a 32-19 edge on the boards. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed 12.

The Rams return to action on Nov. 30 when they travel to West Liberty a 7:30 p.m. contest.
