Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (10-19) recorded a pair of victories in non-conference volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams posted a 25-14, 25-17, 25-11 win over Salem International (3-23) in an early match and added a 25-8, 25-7, 25-6 triumph over Bowie State (3-21) in a later contest.
Freshman outside hitter
Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) had 12 kills and freshman outside hitter
Jaila Bell (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) added nine kills to lead the Rams against Salem International.
Freshman libero
Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) recorded a match-high 13 digs, while senior libero
Shelby Wallace (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) added nine.
Freshman setter
Jessica Karcz Westminster, Md./Westminster) (13) and sophomore setter
Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) (14) teamed to record 27 assists.
Ashly Holt and Kristn Holt each had six kills to lead the Tigers. Sophie Freihofer added 11 digs.
Bell had nine kills and senior outside hitter/right side
Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville) added eight to lead Shepherd past Bowie State.
Kern (16) and Karcz (12) combined for 28 assists, while Major had a match-high 10 digs.
Tia Williams had four kills, while Kelisha Berry and Breiona Garrison added five digs apiece for the Bulldogs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Concord for a 7 p.m. match.
