Shepherd Men Handle Chestnut Hill

Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Shepherd University (4-3) used a balanced attack en route to a 78-57 win over Chestnut Hill College (4-6) in non-conference men's basketball action at Chestnut Hill on Monday night.

Senior guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) led the Rams with 13 points, while junior guard Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) added 12.

Sophomore forward Gavin McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) and junior guard Steffen Davis (Accoceek, Md./Maret School) each tossed in 11 points, while freshman guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) was also in double figures with a career-high 10 points.

Junior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, while Muhammad and Lang each handed out a game-high five assists.

Demetrius Isaac had 16 points and Bryant Quill had 10 points and five boards for the Griffins.

Shepherd held a 43-30 lead at halftime as Muhammad and McTavish (9 points each) combined for 18 first half points.

The Rams opened up the second half on a 10-2 run to take a commanding 21-point lead at 53-32 to take control of the game.

Shepherd hit on 30-of-65 field goals (46.2 percent) with an 8-of-27 (29.6 percent) effort from three-point range. The Rams had a 10-of-15 effort (66.7 percent) from the foul line.

Chestnut Hill connected on 22-of-57 field goals (38.6 percent) with a 2-of-16 effort 12.5 percent) from beyond the arc. The Griffins were 11-of-16 from the foul line (68.8 percent).

Shepherd had a 45-31 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 12.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Alderson Broaddus for a 7 p.m. game.
