Davis Leads Shepherd Men Past Lincoln

Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) scored a game-high 22 points to lead Shepherd University (5-5) to a 60-50 win over Lincoln University (2-10) in men's basketball action at Lincoln University on Friday night.

Davis hit on 8-of-15 field goals with a 5-of-11 performance from beyond the arc. He was 1-of-1 from the foul line.

Senior guard Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) added a nice all-around effort with six points and game-highs of 15 rebounds and seven assists.

Junior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) added 14 points, while sophomore forward Gavin McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Bridgton Academy) was also in double figures with 10 points.

James Richardson had 16 points, while Joshua Blair added eight points and grabbed 10 boards for the Lions.

The game was tied 24-24 at halftime.

Shepherd used a 16-2 run late in the second half to build up an 18-point lead to take control of the contest. Davis poured in 10 points during the run.

Shepherd hit on 24-of-56 field goals (42.9 percent) with a 9-of-23 (39.1 percent) effort from three-point
range. The Rams had a 3-of-9 effort (33.3 percent) from the foul line.

Lincoln connected on 20-of-72 field goals (27.8 percent) with a 4-of-23 effort (17.4 percent) from beyond the arc. The Lions were 6-of-9 from the foul line (66.7 percent).

Shepherd had a 48-39 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 22.

The Rams return to action on Jan. 3 when they travel to Concord for a 7:30 p.m. game.
