Naim Muhammad (Waldorf, Md./North Point) scored a career-high 37 points to lead Shepherd University (14-11, 9-10 MEC) to a 94-83 win over University of Charleston (13-12, 10-9 MEC) in MEC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Thursday night.
Muhammad hit on 12-of-20 field goal attempts with a 5-of-8 effort from three-point range. He sunk 8-of-9 free throws. He added seven rebounds and three assists.

Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) added 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while senior forward
Ryan McTavish (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Presbyterian) tossed in 14 points and grabbed six boards.
Sophomore guard
Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) contributed 12 points and four assists.
Aleksander Kesic scored 22 points to pace the Golden Eagles. Jaylen Hinton had 16 points and Justin Coleman added 13.
Charleston had a 42-39 lead at halftime behind 12 first half points from Kesic.
Shepherd went on a 20-7 run late in the second half to gain a 17-point lead at 76-59 with 7:20 remaining to take control of the game.
Charleston would rally to within six points at 89-83 with 52 seconds left after a pair of Cameron Dozier free throws, but Roman sank 5-of-6 foul shots for the Rams down the stretch to seal the win
Shepherd shot 50.8 percent (30-59) from the floor with a 48 percent (12-25) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 22-of-27 free throws (81.5 percent). Charleston shot 50 percent (30-60) from the floor with a 21.7 percent (5-23) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles sunk 18-of-23 free throws (78.3 percent).
Shepherd had a 33-31 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host West Virginia State for a 4 p.m. game.
