Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) with the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Shepherd University (1-0) to a 2-1 win over Kutztown (2-4) in first day softball action of the Pioneer Classic. The win gave interim head coach 
Danielle Easton her first career victory.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when 
Courtney Clemons (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) walked with the bases loaded to plate Munda.
Kutztown tied the game in the sixth when Danielle Sienko doubled to score Danielle Amato.
Munda went 3-for-3 to lead the Rams. Sienko went 3-for-3 for Kutztown.
Junior pitcher 
Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) (7.0 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 1 K, 0 BB) (1-0) tossed a complete-game victory. Savannah Nierintz (0-2) took the loss for the Golden Bears.
