Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. – Shepherd University (4-4) split a pair of games in second day softball action of the Salem Tournament on Saturday. The Rams dropped a 5-3 decision to Bloomsburg (12-2) in the early game and posted an 11-0 win over Virginia Union as junior pitchers 
Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) and 
Kirsten Barstad (Joppa, Md./Mercy) teamed for a no-hitter in five innings in the later contest.
Shepherd took advantage of 11 hits and three Virginia Union errors en route to the victory.
The Rams plated six runs in the first inning. Sophomore designated player 
Kaitlin Munda (Nokesville, Va./Kettle Run) had an RBI-double, while freshman second baseman 
Morgan Cox (Halifax, Pa./ Halifax) and sophomore outfielder 
Courtney Clemons (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) each added RBI-singles to key the rally.
The Rams added five more rune in the fifth with a two-run double by sophomore catcher 
Molly Staley (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) keying the scoring outburst.
Hanson (3.0 IP, 6 Ks, 1 BB) (2-2) notched the win for the Rams with help from Barstad (2.0 IP, 3 Ks, 0 BB). Amber Jordan (0.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 0Ks, 1 BB) took the loss for the Panthers.
Freshman first baseman 
Connor Gilligan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to lead the Rams against Bloomsburg
Freshman shortstop 
Kaitlyn Konopka (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added a pair of hits while driving in a run and scoring another.
Emily Mayhew went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Mallory Tomaschik drove in a pair of runs to lead the Huskies.
Sarah Bortner (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 6 Ks, 1 BB) gained the win in relief to the Huskies.  Munda (7.0 IP, 9 H,4 R, 2 ER,  3 Ks, 3 BB) (2-2) took the loss for Shepherd.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they face Mansfield at 9 a.m. and Tiffin at 11 a.m. in final day action of the Salem Tournament.
