JJ Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary) singled home junior pinch runner 
Darius Jones (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Shepherd University (6-4) an 8-7 nightcap triumph over Pitt-Johnstown (7-10) in baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Tuesday. The Rams used an 11-hit attack to gain an 11-4 win in game one.
With Shepherd holding a 4-1 lead in the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown rallied with four runs in the fifth to take 5-4 advantage. Dillon Boyer's two-run double ignited the rally.
The Mountain Cats added a pair of runs in the sixth to take a 7-4 lead as Boyer had an RBI-double and Jake Stern added an RBI-single.
Shepherd responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-run homer by junior infielder 
Brandon Kirk (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West/Mercer CC) to cut the deficit to 7-6.
Sophomore third baseman 
Chase Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Middletown) led off the seventh with a solo blast to left. Junior outfielder 
Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) drew a two-out walk and was replaced by Jones. Jones stole second base to set up Sarty's heroics.
Five Rams had multiple hits as Shepherd had 14 for the game.
Boyer went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Mountain Cats.
Senior pitcher 
Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC) (1-0) (2.0 IP, 2R, 2 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB) earned the win. Eric Ford (0-1) (0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 0 Ks, 1 BB) suffered the loss for UPJ.
Shepherd took a 4-2 lead in game one in the bottom of the first on a grand slam by freshman catcher

The Rams took a 5-2 lead in the second when senior second baseman 
Zane Bard (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg/Mount St. Mary's) reached on an error and later scored on a single off the bat of Sarty.
The Mountain Cats cut the lead to 5-3 when Luke Williams hit a solo blast in the fourth.
Shepherd added three runs in the fourth to take an 8-3 advantage with solo blasts by sophomore designated hitter 
Daniel Heleine (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/WVU) and senior first baseman 
Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC).keying the rally.
After Pitt-Johnstown added an unearned run in the fifth, Shepherd added two more runs on an RBI-double by Heleine and an RBI-single by Crater.
Sarty, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, hit a solo homer in the sixth to complete the scoring.
Williams went 2-for-2 to lead UPJ.

John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 5 Ks 0 BB) earned the save. Mountain Cat starter Tyler Black (0-1) (1.1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 0 Ks, 3 BB) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Glenville State for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
