Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (9-6, 3-0 MEC) used a 16-hit attack to gain a 22-1 win over Urbana University (1-8, 0-1 MEC) in Mountain East Conference softball action at Shepherd on Saturday. The nightcap was cancelled due to the inclement weather.
Shepherd plated 14 runs on nine hits and one error in the third inning to pull away for the five inning win. A two-run double by freshman outfielder
Connor Gilligan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and a two-run single by sophomore Sara North (Belcamp, Md./Harford Technical) highlighted the rally.
Junior outfielder
Paige Buckworth (Elkton, Md./North East) went 3-for-3 with six RBIs and a pair of runs scored to lead the Rams. Gilligan added a 2-for-2 effort with three RBIs and four runs scored, while freshman
Ariana Ramirez (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) posted a 2-for-2 performance, drove in two runs, and scored twice.

Katelyn Edwards went 2-for-3 with an RBI-double to lead the Blue Knights.

Tara Hanson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) (5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 Ks, 2 BB) (4-3) earned the win for the Rams. Courtney Stewart (3.2 IP, 10 H, 11 R, 9 ER, 0 Ks, 5 BB) (1-5) took the loss for the Blue Knights.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
