Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (11-6, 5-0) used a 15-hit attack on the day to gain a sweep of Notre Dame College in MEC softball doubleheader action at Shepherd on Sunday. Shepherd rallied for a 2-1 win in game one and posted a 5-2 triumph in the nightcap.
Shepherd took 1-0 lead in the first inning in game one as sophomore outfielder
Courtney Clemons (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by freshman third baseman
Kaitlyn Konopka (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), and scored on a passed ball.
The lead stood until the top of seventh when Mackenzie Wallace singled and later scored on a double by Shelby Stephens to tie the game at 1-1.

Rachel Taylor (Marshall, Va./Fauquier) led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Munda (Nokesville, Va./Kettle Run). Freshman second baseman
Morgan Cox (Halifax, Pa./ Halifax) singled to left to plate Taylor with the game-winner.
Wallace and Stephens each had a pair of hits for the Falcons.
Munda tossed hitless ball in 0.2 innings to improve to 6-2 on the year. Notre Dame pitcher Ashley Pokraka (6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6 Ks, 3 BB) (4-7) took the loss.
Notre Dame took a 2-0 lead in the second in the nightcap on a two-run single by Wallace.
Shepherd took a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the third as Cox and Clemons singled and Konopka followed with a three-run blast.
The Rams added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. Konopka led off with a double and later scored on a single by junior outfielder
Paige Buckworth (Elkton, Md./North East). Junior first baseman
Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) singled and was replaced by freshman pinch-runner
Ariana Ramirez (Gainesville, Va./Patriot), who scored on a sacrifice fly by Munda.
Konopka went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored to lead the Rams.
Wallace and Nicole Spuhler each had a pair of hits for the Falcons.
Munda (7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 Ks, 3 BB) (7-2) picked up her second win of the day for the Rams. Wallace (4.1 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 0 Ks, 1 BB) (1-1) took the loss for the Falcons.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a noon doubleheader.
