Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (17-9, 10-4 MEC) split with Urbana (10-19, 5-9 MEC) in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Sunday. The Rams posted a 4-0 win in game one, while the Blue Knights rallied for a 6-3 win in the nightcap.

Shepherd plated all four runs in the fourth inning in game one behind an RBI-single by sophomore third baseman Chase Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and a three-run homer off the bat of junior second baseman Brandon Kirk (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West/Mercer CC).

Junior outfielder Ron Farley (Cockeysville, Md./Calvert Hall/Delaware State) went 2-for-2 with a run scored  to pace the Rams.

Tim Feasel went 2-for-3 for Urbana.

Junior pitcher John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (7.0 IP, 4 H, 8 Ks, 0 BB) (4-2) went the distance to gain the win. Austin Mace (6.0 IP, 4 H 4 ER, 6 Ks, 4 BB) (4-3) took the loss for the Blue Knights.

Shepherd took a 2-0 lead in the first in the nightcap on a solo blast by senior shortstop Tre Porter (Stephens City, Va./Sherando/Potomac State) and an RBI-double by freshman catcher Christian Hamel (Pasadena, Md./IMG Academy).

Shepherd added a run in the third on an RBI-single by Hoffman.

Urbana rallied with four runs in the fourth with a two-run double by Mickey Barea keying the rally.

The Blue Knights added a single run in the eighth on as Bradley Burkholder reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

Urbana added another run in the ninth on an RBI-double by Enmanuel Lopez

Senior first baseman Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC), junior outfielder JJ Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary), sophomore designated hitter Daniel Heleine (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/WVU) and Hamel each had a pair of hits for the Rams.

Barea and Damario Brown each had a pair of hits for the Blue Knights.

Dalton Greenwalt (5.0 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 1K, 1 BB) (1-3) gained the win. Reliever Adam Ramirez (3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 Ks 1 BB) picked up the save. Freshman pitcher Colin Benner (Clear Brook, Va./Millbrook) (4.0 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 3 BB) (3-1) took the loss. for the Rams

The two teams return to action on Monday for a noon doubleheader at Fairfax Field.
