Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (20-11, 13-3) split with Concord (24-16, 13-9) in MEC softball doubleheader action at Shepherd on Sunday. Shepherd rallied for a 6-5 win in nine innings in game one, while Concord gained the split with an 11-7 win in the nightcap.
Lauren Lewis hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning of game one to give Concord a 1-0 lead.
Shepherd tied the game in the second with an unearned run and took a 2-1 lead in the third behind an RBI-double by junior outfielder
Paige Buckworth (Elkton, Md./North East).
Buckworth belted a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Rams a 4-1 advantage.
Lewis hit a two-run double and Sarah Herndon hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4-4 in the seventh.
Concord took a 5-4 lead in the ninth on an RBI single by Alycea Watson.
Shepherd plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to gain the win. Sophomore pitcher
Kaitlin Munda (Nokesville, Va./Kettle Run/Francis Marion) hit a one-out solo blast. Junior third baseman
Alexandra Witt (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Jefferson) reached on a walk and later scored the game-winner on a single by freshman second baseman
Morgan Cox (Halifax, Pa./Halifax).
Buckworth went 3-for-5 to lead the Rams.
Alayna Furr went 4-for-5 with three runs scored for the Mountain Lions
Munda (3.0 IP, 3H, 1 ER, 0 Ks, 1 BB) (13-4) picked up the win for the Rams. Sarah Herndon (8.2 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 K, 6 BB) (9-12) took the loss.
Concord plated five runs in the top of the seventh to rally for an 11-7 win in the nightcap. A two-run single by Kylie Kent keyed the scoring outburst.

Kaitlyn Konopka (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs to lead Shepherd.
Kristen Rose went 3-for-5 to lead the Mountain Lions.

Kirsten Barstad (Joppa, Md./Mercy) (5.1 IP 5 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 3 Ks, 2 BB) (0-2) took the loss for the Rams.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host UVa-Wise for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
