Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Downed by Millersville

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Bridget Hufnagel scored seven goals and Sabrina Fusco and Jamie Darmirgian each added four to lead Millersville (9-5) to 20-16 win over Shepherd University (4-9) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday.

Senior midfielder/attacker Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) tallied a career-high nine points with six goals and three assists for the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) added three goals and an assist, while junior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) tallied three goals.

Junior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) had two goals and an assist, while senior attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) and  sophomore midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) each recorded single goals. Morris reached the 100-goal mark for her career with the tally.

Senior midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) contributed an assist.

Callie Kavanaugh and Taylor Davis each added a pair of goals for Millersville.

Senior goalkeeper Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) recorded eight saves for the Rams. Bryana Weston-Wyatt had three saves for the Marauders

Millersville had an 11-7 halftime edge.

Shepherd had a 24-14 advantage in draw controls, while Millersville had a 23-15 edge in ground balls. The Marauders had a 31-23 shots advantage.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Notre Dame for a 4 p.m. contest.
