Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (23-9, 16-4 MEC) swept Wheeling Jesuit (10-22, 9-11 MEC) in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Sunday. The Rams posted a 4-2 win in game one and added a 17-5 win in the nightcap.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the first inning in game as junior outfielder

Wheeling Jesuit rallied with a pair of runs in the third behind RBIs from Brock McGivern and Tony Connacher.

Sophomore designated hitter
Daniel Heleine (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/WVU) belted a solo blast in the fourth to give the Rams a 3-2 lead and Sarty added an RBI-single in the fifth to complete the scoring.
Junior pitcher
John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (7.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 6 Ks, 1 BB) (5-2) went the distance to gain the win. Joe San Filippo (6.0 IP, 4 H 4 ER, 9 Ks, 2 BB) (3-6) took the loss for the Cardinals.
Shepherd used a 16-hit attack in the nightcap victory.
The Rams belted six home runs as Heleine hit a pair of two-run blasts. Sarty belted a three-run homer, while Farley had a two-run blast. Senior shortstop
Tre Porter (Stephens City, Va./Sherando/Potomac State) hit a solo blast for his team-best 14th of the season, while junior first baseman
Mike Brown (Brandywine, Md./St. Mary's Ryken/Delaware Tech CC) added a solo homer.
Sarty went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and three runs scored and Heleine went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Rams.
Adam Dennison went 1-for-3 and scored a pair of runs for the Cardinals.
Freshman pitcher
Colin Benner (Clear Brook, Va./Millbrook) (5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 Ks, 4 BB) (4-1) gained the win. Logan Hudson (3.1 IP, 8 H, 9 ER, 3 Ks, 2 BB) (3-6) took the loss.
