Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Shepherd University (29-11, 20-6) split with Notre Dame (22-22, 15-11) in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Notre Dame on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 4-3 win in game one, while Notre Dame had a 10-7 win in the nightcap.

Shepherd took as 1-0 lead in the third inning in game one as senior shortstop Tre Porter (Stephens City, Va./Sherando/Potomac State) walked and later scored on a single by sophomore designated hitter Daniel Heleine (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/WVU).

The Rams added a run in the fourth as freshman catcher Christian Hamel (Pasadena, Md./IMG Academy) led off with a double and later scored when junior outfielder Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) grounded into a double play.

Notre Dame scored three runs in the fifth on three hits and four errors to take a 3-2 advantage. Keifer Quick had an RBI-double and Ross Barker drove in another run to key the rally.

Shepherd scored a pair of runs in the sixth to gain the win. Carney had an RBI-double and Porter hit a sacrifice fly to plate junior second baseman Brandon Kirk (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West/Mercer CC), who had singled, with the game-winning run.

Carney, Heleine, Hamel, and Kirk each had a pair of hits for the Rams.

TJ Lett went 3-for-3 to lead Notre Dame.

Senior pitcher Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC) (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 Ks, 2 BB) (7-0) picked up the win. Sophomore reliever Dan Galati (Hockessin, Del./St. Elizabeth's/Delaware State) (2.0 IP, 4 H 0 R, 1 K, 0 BB) earned the save. Carter Daniels (5.1 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 3 Ks, 5 BB) (1-3) took the loss for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame outslugged the Rams for a 10-7 win in the nightcap.

Quick went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer to pace the Falcon attack.

Junior outfielder JJ Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary) had a pair of hits and junior outfielder Ron Farley (Cockeysville, Md./Calvert Hall/Delaware State) drove in a apir of runs to lead the Rams.

Chris Murphy (2.2 IP 3 H, 1 ER, 3 Ks, 1 BB) (1-3) gained the win for the Falcons with Hank Beasore (2.0 IP, 1 H, 2 UER, 3 Ks 2 BB) earning the save. Junior pitcher John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (5.1 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 4 Ks, 4 BB) (6-3) took the loss for the Rams.

The two teams return to action on Sunday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Notre Dame.
