Box Score WEST LAWN, Pa. – Shepherd University dropped a 3-0 decision to Seton Hill in first day action at the NCAA II Atlantic Regional Baseball Tournament on Thursday at Owls Park at Ted Palka Field.

The Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Mark Colella led off with a solo home run. Colton Carney reached on an infield error and later scored on a single by Tyler Sullivan.

Seton Hill added another run in the fifth on a solo blast by Garret Verbanic.

Junior outfielder Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) had Shepherd's lone hit with a leadoff single in the fourth.

The Rams had two more base runners in the game as junior outfielder JJ Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary) reached on a hit-by-pitch in the seventh and sophomore designated hitter Daniel Heleine (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/WVU) reached base on an infield error in the eighth.

Colella and Sullivan each had a pair of hits for the Griffins.

Perry Della Valle (9.0 IP, 1 H, 4 ER, 5 Ks, 0 BB) (9-1) tossed the complete game victory for the Griffins. Senior pitcher Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC) (9.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 8 Ks, 0 BB) (9-1) went the distance for the Rams and suffered his first loss of the season.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face a yet to be determined opponent at 3 p.m. at Owls Field at Ted Palka Field.
