Shepherd Men’s Soccer Downs Washington Adventist

Box Score TAKOMA PARK, Md. – Four different players scored goals as Shepherd University (1-4) handed host Washington Adventist (3-3) a 4-2 setback in men's soccer action at Washington Adventist on Monday evening.

Shepherd opened the scoring at the 10:33 mark when senior defender/midfielder Brandon Muriel (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine Secondary School) scored on a feed from junior midfielder Kevin Bonanno (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora).

The Rams took a 3-0 lead into the break as sophomore midfielder Anthony Wenner (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) scored on a pass from sophomore forward/midfielder Justin Poole (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) at the 27:51 mark and Poole scored on a pass from Bonanno minutes later.

Junior forward/midfielder Justin Marshall (Adamstown, Md./Tuscarora) opened up the scoring in the second half on a pass from junior midfielder Luis Prado (Venezuela/Rioclaro/Montgomery College) at the 54 49 mark.

Washington Adventist got a goal from Elam Lemus on a feed from Dominic Atabongakeng at the 71:58 mark and Atabongakeng added a unassisted tally in the game's final minute.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) recorded seven saves for the Rams, while Pedro Merino had seven saves for The Shock.

Washington Adventist had a 17-16 edge in shots, while Shepherd had a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 4 p.m. contest.
