Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa.. – Shepherd University opened the 2016 season with a pair of wins at the Lock Haven Tournament on Friday. The Rams gained a 3-0 (27-25, 25-13, 25-16) win over Lock Haven in and early match and added a 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19) triumph over Stonehill in a later match.
Freshman outside hitter
Jaila Bell (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had 11 kills and 17 digs to pace the Rams against Lock Haven. Senior outside hitter
Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville) added eight kills, while sophomore middle blocker/right side
Sophie Foster (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) and freshman outside hitter
Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) each had six.
Junior libero
Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, W.Va./Loudoun County) added 15 digs, while sophomore setter
Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) had 15 assists and 11 digs.
Sarah Gomish had 18 kills and eight digs to lead Lock Haven.
Freshman outside hitter
Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) recorded nine kills, Foster and Hill each had eight, while Bell added seven to lead Shepherd against Stonehill.
Bell added 13 digs and Anderson contributed 12. Kern posted 27 assists.
Katherine DeLanty had 13 kills to lead the Skyhawks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face California (Pa.) at 9 a.m. and Ashland at 1 p.m. in final day action of the Lock Haven Tournament.
