Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Conor Davies scored a goal and assisted on another to lead West Virginia Wesleyan (3-5-0, 3-3-0 MEC) to a 3-1 win over Shepherd University (1-6-0, 0-4-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.
Nick Rainieri opened the scoring with an unassisted goal for the Bobcats at the 1:16 mark.
Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead at the 31:33 mark when Juwon Akintunde scored on a pass from Davies.
Sophomore forward/midfielder
Justin Poole (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) scored an unassisted goal for the Rams at the 39:59 mark to cut the lead to 2-1.
West Virginia Wesleyan added an insurance goal in the second half when Davis scored on a feed from Luca Falconeri at the 62:15 mark.
Junior
Jacob Clements (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Frederick CC) recorded four saves in goal for the Rams, while Alessandro Armenia had one save for the Bobcats.
West Virginia Wesleyan had a 23-5 shots advantage and an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Urbana for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
