Shepherd Volleyball Downs Notre Dame

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (7-9, 2-0 MEC) handed Notre Dame (8-8, 1-2 MEC) a 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-16) setback in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night.

Sophomore middle blocker/right side Sophie Foster (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) recorded 10 kills and 11 blocks to lead the Shepherd attack.

Senior outside hitter Grace Simmons (Centreville, Va./Centreville), junior middle hitter Christine Jackson (Stafford, Va./North Stafford), freshman outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond), and freshman outside hitter Jaila Bell (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) each added seven kills. Bell also contributed 15 digs.

Freshman setter Jessica Karcz (Westminster, Md./Westminster) (23) and sophomore setter Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) (15) combined for 38 assists, while junior libero Kelsey Anderson (Leesburg, W.Va./Loudoun County) posted a match-high 19 digs.

Melissa Maczuzak and Natalie Spadaro each had 10 kills to lead Notre Dame. Ali Kaeberlein added 15 digs.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Urbana for a 2 p.m. match.
