Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Shepherd University (5-5-7, 5-4-7 MEC) battled to a 1-1 tie with Charleston (6-7-5, 5-6-5 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Charleston on Saturday. The effort earned the Rams a fourth-place finish in the MEC standings. Shepherd will travel to West Virginia Wesleyan next Thursday for first-round action of the MEC Tournament.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 50:32 mark when senior forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md./Perryville/Wingate) scored on an assist from senior midfielder/forward 
Taylor Harwood (Capon Bridge, W.Va./Hampshire).
Charleston tied the game on a goal by Ivey Nucilli off a feed from Marlee Coleman at the 89:59 mark.
Senior netminder 
Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded six saves for the Rams.  Zoe Zyta had three saves for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd had an 11-9 advantage in shots, while Charleston held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Daemen College for a noon match.
