Shepherd Women’s Soccer Defeats Wheeling Jesuit

WHEELING, W.Va. – Shepherd (4-2-4, 4-1-4 MEC) scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 win over Wheeling Jesuit (3-7-0, 2-6-0 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday evening.

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead when senior defender Regan Stout (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) scored on an assist from senior defender Bri Gorman (Clarksburg, Md./Urbana) on a corner kick at the 31:04 mark.

Shepherd took a 2-0 lead into the break as freshman midfielder Emma Bernardoni (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) scored on a free kick at the 34:53 mark.

Gorman opened up the second half scoring when she found the back of the net on a corner kick at the 63:24 mark.

Kayla Klock scored an unassisted goal at the 79:49 mark for the Cardinals.

Junior netminder Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded four saves for the Rams.  Megan Herter had four saves for the Cardinals.

Shepherd had a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. contest.
