Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Senior guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored 27 points and junior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) tossed in 25 to lead Shepherd University (1-0) to an 82-65 win over Winston-Salem State-in women's basketball action at Winston-Salem State on Saturday.
Arden hit on 10-of-22 field goals with a 4-of-6 effort from three-point range. She was 3-of-4 from the foul line. Tibbs hit on 8-of-15 shots with a 5-of-10 performance from three-point range. Arden and Tibbs each dished out five assists.
Senior guard Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River/Anne Arundel CC) added 11 points, while Junior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds
Kandice Tate had 14 points, while Brionna Pate and Tiana Edwards scored 12 for Winston-Salem State.
Shepherd shot 47.5 percent (28-59) from the floor with a 55 percent effort (11-20) from three-point range for the game. The Rams shot 65.2 percent (15-23) from the charity stripe.
Winston-Salem State hit on 31.3 percent (21-67) from the floor with a 23.1 percent (3-13) performance from beyond the arc. The Rams connected on 76.9 percent (20-26) of their free throws.
Winston-Salem State had a 45-38 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 18 turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they face Shaw at 1 p.m. in final day action of the Winston-Salem State Tournament.
