Shepherd Men Post Fifth Straight Win

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Skyler Roman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) scored 18 points and junior guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) added 16 to lead Shepherd University (18-9, 15-6 MEC) to an 81-69 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (12-15, 9-12 MEC) in MEC men's basketball action on Senior Night at the Butcher Center on Thursday night.

Roman connected on 7-of-13 field goals with a 2-of-5 effort from three-point range. He was 2-of-3 from the foul line. Davis hit on 6-of-14 field goals with a 3-of-8 effort from three-point range. He drained his only free throw attempt.

Junior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) added nine points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore forward Winston Burgess (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Kevin Kangni had 13 points and Mo Berchie added 10 points for the Bobcats.

Shepherd had a 35-18 lead at the break behind 14 first half points from Davis.

Shepherd connected on 40.9 percent (27-66) from the floor with a 29.2 percent (7-24) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 80 percent (8-10) of their free throws.

West Virginia Wesleyan shot 32.1 percent (17-53) from the floor with a 16.7 percent effort (3-18) from three-point range. The Bobcats shot 81.8 percent (9-11) from the charity stripe.

Shepherd had a 45-34 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 14 turnovers and committed 14.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Fairmont State for a 4 p.m. game.
