Shepherd Baseball Falls to East Stroudsburg

Box Score DINWIDDIE, Va. – Shepherd University (1-7) dropped an 11-2 decision to East Stroudsburg (5-3) in baseball action in Dinwiddie, Virginia on Sunday afternoon.

East Stroudsburg took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI-single by Dylan Tamecki.

The Warriors added four more runs in the third with a three-run homer by Steven Zimmerman highlighting the rally.

East Stroudsburg tacked on six runs on four hits and one error in the fourth with a two-run single by Charles Edwards keying the scoring outburst.

Shepherd scored a run in the seventh as sophomore infielder Brian McCourt (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) reached on an error and later scored when sophomore outfielder Reid Entsminger (Stephens City, Va./Sherando/Lamar) reached on a fielder's choice.

The Rams added a run in the eighth as junior third baseman Chase Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Middletown) led off with a single and later scored when sophomore infielder Eric Sloper (Catlett, Va./Patriot) reached on an error.

Laine Renaud and Carson Freeman each had three hits to lead the Warriors.

Hoffman went 2-for-4 to pace the Rams.

Senior pitcher John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (1-2) (4.0 IP, 9 H, 11 R, 1 ER, 9 K, 2 BB) took the loss. Junior reliever Ryan Pansch (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (5 H, 5 K, 0 BB) tossed scoreless ball over the final five innings for the Rams. Connor Johnson (6.0 IP, 3 H, 5 K, 4 BB) picked up the win for the Warriors. Nick DiEva (3.0 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 K, 2 BB) earned the save.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Millersville for a noon doubleheader.
