Shepherd Women Edged by Notre Dame

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Kelsey Miller and Terrina Robinson each scored 18 points to lead Notre Dame (10-12, 9-8 MEC) to a 74-71 win over Shepherd University (10-15, 7-10 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Thursday.

Junior guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) led the Rams with 18 points. She connected on 8-of-16 field goals with a 2-of-4 effort from three-point range. Arden added a season and game-high nine assists along with six rebounds.

Junior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) added 16 points, while senior forward Liz Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) had 12.

Jessie Stout added 15 points, while Seina Adachi tossed 13 for the Falcons. Miller also hauled down a game-high 15 rebounds for Notre Dame.

The Falcons had a 38-36 lead at halftime.

Shepherd used a strong third period to take a 56-51 lead into the final period.

The Rams led by nine points in the final period at 67-58 after a layup by junior guard Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River) with 5:07 remaining. Notre Dame proceeded on a 16-4 run to rally for the win.
Robinson hit a layup with 33 seconds left to give the Falcons a 73-71 advantage. Kim Cook hit 1-of-2 free throws down the stretch and Arden's last second three-point attempt went awry.

Shepherd shot 53.3 percent (32-60) from the floor with a 44.4 percent effort (4-9) from three-point range for the game. The Rams shot 50 percent (3-6) from the charity stripe.

Notre Dame hit on 43.3 percent (26-60) from the floor with a 30 percent (6-20) performance from beyond the arc. The Falcons connected on 61.5 percent (16-26) of their free throws.

Notre Dame had a 50-25 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 17 turnovers and committed 16.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Urbana for a 2 p.m. game.
