Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Edged by Edinboro

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Emily Peters had three goals and an assist, while Elysia Garland added a pair goals to lead Edinboro (1-1) to 9-6 win over Shepherd (0-5) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and junior midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each had two goals and an assist to lead the Rams. Senior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) added a goal and an assist. Senior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) also netted a goal and freshman attacker Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) contributed an assist. Green also recorded a game-high four draw controls.

Edinboro had an 8-3 lead at the half.

Edinboro had a 25-17 edge in ground balls, while Shepherd had a 10-6 advantage in draw controls. Shepherd was 15-of-20 in clears, while Edinboro was 15-of-22. The Rams had a 25-21 edge in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) recorded five saves for the Rams, while Paige Skinner had 10 saves for the Fighting Scots.

The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Franklin Pierce for a 1 p.m. matchup.

Notes: Price (84 goals and 17 assists for 101 points) went over 100 points for her career today … Shepherd outscored Edinboro, 3-1, in the second half … the Shepherd defense limited its opponent to a season-low nine goals for the second time (Shippensburg) this season.
