Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Franklin Pierce

Box Score RINDGE, N.H. – Caitlin Sweeney scored seven goals and Briana Sweeney added five to lead Franklin Pierce (2-0) to a 16-9 win over Shepherd (0-6) in women's lacrosse action at Franklin Pierce on Monday afternoon.

Senior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) led the Rams with three goals. Senior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) added two goals and an assist. Junior midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) also netted a pair of goals, while senior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) and senior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) each scored a goal.

Senior attacker Chrissy Jarboe (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and freshman attacker/midfielder Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) also added assists for the Rams.

Franklin Pierce scored four unanswered goals midway throughout the first half to take an 8-4 into the break.

Shepherd got to within a pair of goals at 10-8 after an unassisted goal by Green with 20:12 left in the contest, but would get no closer.

Franklin Pierce had a 21-9 edge in ground balls and a 14-11 advantage in draw controls. Shepherd was 13-of-21 in clears, while Franklin Pierce was 14-of-19. The Ravens had a 46-16 advantage in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) recorded a career-high 18 saves for the Rams, while Denise Hunt had six saves for the Ravens. Hickman's 18 saves tie the program single mark shared by Emily Melanson vs. Stonehill in 2011 and Savannah Shores vs. Mercyhurst in 2016.

The Rams are slated to return to action on Thursday at Felician for a 7 p.m. contest. Tuesday's contest at Post University has been cancelled due to weather concerns.
