Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Downs Notre Dame

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) recorded five goals and four assists, while senior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) added four goals to lead Shepherd (4-9, 2-0 MEC) to an 18-3 win over Notre Dame College (2-6, 0-2 MEC) in women's lacrosse action on Senior Day at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

Junior midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) added three goals and an assist, senior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) tallied two goals and four assists, while senior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) had two goals and a pair of assists.

Junior midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) contributed two goals and an assist.

Darbie Barkman had three goals, three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and two draw controls for the Falcons.

Hunley and Price each recorded three first half goals to help Shepherd gain a 12-1 advantage at halftime.

Shepherd had a 26-18 advantage in ground balls and a 17-6 edge in draw controls. Shepherd was 13-of-16 in clears, while Notre Dame was 9-of-19. The Rams had a 44-13 advantage in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had six saves for the Rams, while Taylor Vencl recorded 12 saves for the Falcons.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 4.p.m. contest.
