Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Wheeling Jesuit

Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Kori Hickman had four goals and three assists to lead Wheeling Jesuit (6-7, 3-0 MEC) to a 10-8 win over Shepherd (4-10, 2-1 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Wheeling Jesuit on Friday.

Senior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) scored three goals to lead the Rams. She also added a game-high five draw controls and three ground balls.

Senior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and freshman attacker Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) each added a pair of goals, while senior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) added a single tally. Funke and senior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) each had an assist.

Mary Burns and Paige Plesich each added a pair of goals for the Cardinals.

Wheeling Jesuit had a 24-12 advantage in ground balls, while Shepherd had an 11-9 edge in draw controls.
Shepherd was 14-of-20 in clears, while Wheeling Jesuit was 18-of-23. The Cardinals had a 25-15 advantage in shots.

Junior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had nine saves for the Rams, while Maire Austin recorded seven saves for the Cardinals.

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 1 p.m. contest.
