Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (26-19, 22-6 MEC) split with Notre Dame (16-30, 11-17 MEC) in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Sunday. The Falcons recorded 7-3 win in game one, while the Rams held on for an 8-7 win in the nightcap.
Notre Dame took a 2-0 lead in the third inning in game one as Adam Purdy had an RBI-double and another run scored on an error.
The Falcons added four runs in the fourth. Danny Beaver, Nick Ely, and Purdy each drove in a run to key the rally.
Shepherd got a run in the fifth as freshman outfielder
Brenton Doyle (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) reache don a fielder's choice and scored on a single by junior third baseman
Chase Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Middletown).
Notre Dame added a run in the seventh on an RBI-single by TJ Lett.
Shepherd plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame on a two-run blast by Hoffman.
Hoffman went 3-for-4 to lead the Rams.

Joe Rindone (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick/Towson) (5-4) (3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 5 K, 7 BB) gained the win for the Rams. Jeff Stover (4-0) (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 K, 4 BB) earned the win.

The Rams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Fairmont State for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
